I would suggest that you stop running and investing more time into your swim training. Although swimming involves your cardiovascular system, there is a whole lot more involved in swimming than breathing. If you are not comfortable in the water, your body will tense up. This anxiety often results in having difficulty breathing.

Work on improving your swim strokes. You could be exerting so much unnecessary energy that you exhaust yourself. Being as hydrodynamic as possible helps. Be streamlined. Your strokes and kicks should be efficient. There is a lot more to swimming than just getting from one point to another in the water.

Your comparison is like saying that Tiger Woods can hit the golf ball so he should be good in baseball.

Swimming is alot different than running, the more you swim the better you will get. you just really have to dedicate some time on it.

Also, ask a good swimmer to evaluate your teqnique, if you are doing the strokes wrong you could be making it harder on yourself. If you dont get it down by the classes, dont sweat it. they should help you with your swim teqnique.

Good Luck

Swimming uses different muscles than running. It is a great help that your cardio vascular system is in shape. Keep swimming regularly and your stamina and speed will improve.

your stamina seems fine, try this, go into a pull when its quiet , dont worry about looking stupid, inhale till your lungs capacity then float for a while, the reason you cant do more than 100 metres is down to your breathing, now relax and have fun,,, cheers

if you want to improve your stamina so that you can swim more than you should swim as much as you can per day and you should swim not as fast as you can but if you want your speed to increase than try swimming short distances at maximum speed

swimming uses more than just your legs. you need other strong muscles too. so just keep swimming and your power will increase soon.
