Kelly Slater of the US defeated Joel Parkinson of Australia 15.44 points to 13.83 points. It was the defending World Champions first win at Bells Beach since 1994. In doing so, he equalled Tom Curren's record of 33 ASP tour events.

Slater won it and chances are he will win his 8th world title this year. The surf was mad, I surfed a beach around the corner from Bells that day and it was mental.

Kelly Slayer in 3m waves! They used a jet ski to get out the back.

David Hasselhoff originally won it, but was disqualified for wearing a chest wig. Don't know who replaced him but Quasimodo was on holiday there and he's a sure fire winner usually.
